Age can never be an excuse for neglecting to improve one’s health, as shown by Squishy, a senior rescue dog. She didn’t choose to lose weight, but she did the effort to make it happen. A personal trainer named Jimmy Shiba acquired Squishy from the senior dog rescue group Muttville. She was 59 pounds when Jimmy took her in and was on several joint meds at the time.

It was expected that Jimmy, who worked as a trainer and referred to himself as “a transformation expert,” would be dedicated to assisting Squishy in achieving health when he adopted her. A regular ritual of early morning walks with her father served as the starting point of Squishy’s weight loss effort. The walks had a little hiccup at first because she would obstinately sit down before they arrived at their house. It took several times before Squishy started to advance.

She couldn’t climb the stairs before they began the training, but within a few weeks she was able to, and a year later she was already breaking records. Squishy is in charge of the stairs, holding the record at 20 seconds! Squishy did a great job! Jimmy captioned a video of Squishy rushing up the stairs on Instagram, saying, “Down from 45 seconds on her first attempt from last year!! Squishy has been working toward being healthy for three years, and she has just succeeded. The adorable puppy is already 30 pounds and very active.
