In Indian regions, it is well known that people are unkind to mothers. Because there are so many people there and the crops are failing, the monkeys are seen to be a threat. What we do know about this monkey is that he grinned when it was needed the most.
Prakash Badal, an Indian photographer, recently caught incredible scenes while touring through Himachal Pradesh. He came across an odd sight along the route, a dog and a monkey. The dog was a stray, and the monkey was little more than ten days old. That’s how it appeared.
People in the neighborhood told Prakash that the monkey’s mother had been poisoned to save the crop. It’s not uncommon in those places, because many of these monkeys have caused farmers trouble.
The tiny monkey was nearing the end of his life, as it would be impossible for him to survive for long without his mother and the sustenance he would receive from her. But then a dog with no home emerged. He was a nomad, but he was a nomad with a great heart. She was about to give birth to her cubs.
This seemingly odd couple became pretty close. They began to live together. As a result, they eat together, socialize, play, and have fun. They walk down the street together. As the photographer points out, seeing such a bond between two very different species, a dog and a monkey, is extremely rare. It is well known that they are constantly at odds and that they are rarely, if ever, friends. This time, the potential mother made an odd choice. No matter how different the two worlds are, she couldn’t afford to leave that small cub alone on the road.
Nobody knows how a mother and child will cope when tiny puppies are born, but for the time being, it is clear who is the most important person in a little macaque’s life. It is a dog to whom it owes everything, including its very existence.
