When Kylo Ren was just ten months old, he was sent to the West Memphis Animal Shelter. He was pulled from the shelter by ALIVE Rescue Memphis as the first step toward finding his forever family. He is a large goofy dog that simply wants to be loved.
Kylo spent a long time in a foster home after being rescued, with little interest or applications from possible adopters. No one could figure out why this sweet youngster didn’t seem to be attracting any attention – until the right family learned about him.

Meghan Sweers, Kylo’s new mom, told The Dodo, “We spotted his photo on Facebook and reached out.” “I believe he was always intended to be with us; it simply took us a while to find him!”
Sweers and her husband already had another dog, a tiny corgi named Nellie, so they decided to give Kylo a trial night to see if he would get along with Nellie. Kylo was driven four hours to his potential family’s home by a rescue volunteer, and they felt it was meant to be from the moment he arrived.

“He crawled into my lap, nestled his head under my chin, and started snoring like a chainsaw as soon as they departed,” Sweers recounted. “My husband and I both knew he was staying with us from that point forward!”
Kylo quickly adjusted to his new surroundings and fell in love with his family. He had a few eccentricities, such as a dislike for wooden floors, but his family was able to accommodate them all, including covering their entire house in rugs so he felt safe at all times.

Sweers explained, “He navigates the home by jumping from rug to rug.”
Kylo’s true want is to be loved and cherished, which is why he welcomes his mother with hugs and cuddles every time she returns home from work.
Kylo is a big mama’s boy, so every night when his dad gets home first and lets Kylo out of his crate, he keeps a close eye on the front door until his mom comes in a half-hour later.

Sweers explained, “As soon as I sit down to take off my shoes, he crawls into my lap and demands to be held.” “If I don’t sit down for our cuddling time, he follows me around with the saddest, most pitiful expression on his face until I cave in and take him in my arms.”
Kylo would spend the entire day sitting and sleeping in his mother’s arms if he could. Even individuals who were previously afraid of dogs like him can’t help but change their minds when they meet adorable Kylo, who wants nothing more in life than to love and be loved in return.

“After spending time with him, several of our family members who were previously prejudiced about bully breeds have changed their minds,” Sweers added. “He persuades people a little too forcefully… by crawling onto their laps and falling asleep.”
