Dexter escaped from his Kansas doggy daycare while his owner was away on vacation, but was swiftly found after his father noticed him on his Ring doorbell camera. Surprising events, such as dogs on the run, are captured by doorbell cameras.

One of Ring’s doorbell cameras recently apprehended a canine who fled from a pet daycare near Lenexa, Kansas, according to Ring, a home security firm known for its doorbell cameras.
Dexter, the furry rogue, managed to escape the daycare while his owner, Jeremy, was on vacation in Las Vegas. Dexter raced two miles from the daycare to his door after he was out in the world.
Jeremy could console his homesick puppy despite being nearly 1,000 miles away from home. When the owner’s Ring doorbell camera alerted him that someone was at his front door, he viewed the video feed and discovered Dexter.

Jeremy used the doorbell camera’s two-way speak capability to communicate with his dog and keep him quiet until a friend arrived to pick him up.
“We adopted Dexter to be my wife’s watchdog while I was away, and he takes that duty very seriously, so that’s probably why he was so determined to get home,” Jeremy said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

It was especially crucial to get Dexter off the front porch and into a warm home because a blizzard was expected to reach the area around the time of the dog’s escape.
“It used to make me feel protected knowing that whenever someone arrived at our door, we would be told. But now I am convinced that my dog’s life was saved by the Ring Doorbell. He might have been stuck outside without it and wouldn’t have been able to locate a warm place to keep safe “Added the concerned dog owner.
