When this German shepherd is surrounded by a flock of small young chicks, he’s glad to carefully watch over them. Thorin, the cute German shepherd, is simply going about his business. He’s looking after a slew of baby chickens and takes a break to sniff and kiss them. He’s been anticipating this moment all day and will not let it pass him by.
Thorin is right there watching mum gently place the newborn chicks in a bucket when she pulls them out of the incubator. She transfers them all to another room once she removes them all, with him following closely behind.
Mom takes the chicks out one by one and sets them on the rug. The large dog wags his tail, looks around, and then gently sniffs all of the chicks, inspecting each one.
He’s satisfied with his inspection after checking them all out. He takes a careful walk around the chicks and stretches before resting down with them, making sure he doesn’t step on any of them.
Thorin keeps an eye on them as they explore their new surroundings and gives them a few gentle nudges and sniffs. He appears to be joyously beaming down at the chicks as they congregate around his enormous paws.
In terms of predators and prey, the chicks have no fear of him. They stroll up to his mouth and paws, entirely at ease in their new environment.
