You may have heard that dogs don’t have the same understanding of time as humans. We may never know for sure. This could explain why, whether we’ve just returned from a day at work or a two-week vacation, they’re always glad to see us. Every time we get together, it’s a reason to rejoice!

Cotton was the only one who realized what was going on. Sweet Cotton was a service dog for his father, who was a United States soldier. Cotton was deaf, but that didn’t stop him from communicating with his family and expressing his love for them. Cotton’s father went away for a training weekend. He’d only been gone for two days, but Cotton thought he’d been gone for two years when he spotted him heading up the steps of their house.
Cotton stared hard out the window, his cheek and nose pulling aside the curtain to ensure he had the greatest line of sight possible. Cotton’s tail flew into hyperdrive as he realized it was his father heading up the driveway! As he pressed his body against his father’s knees, he showered him with kisses. Cotton’s reaction to his father’s return was extremely adorable!

Cotton, unfortunately, became ill shortly after this video was shot. His health deteriorated further. Cotton’s family conferred with his doctors before making the difficult decision to assist Cotton in crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Cotton passed away on March 2nd, 2016, surrounded by affection and in the comfort of his own home. However, it has been argued that the number of years in a person’s life does not important. Rather, it’s how much life you can cram into those years that makes all the difference. Cotton’s life was filled with experiences and love beyond his wildest dreams!

His original family had been cruel to him. Cotton had been kept in a garden shed for a long time and was dangerously underweight. He was eventually transferred to the Oregon Humane Society, where he was given the life-saving treatment he required. His forever family discovered him, and their lives were forever transformed!
Cotton liked to cuddle upon his father’s uniforms. He liked being pampered with bacon and eggs for breakfast, and he was the best big brother to his younger human siblings. He even made it to Hollywood and had a commercial of his own! Cotton may be no longer with us, but his memory continues to bring people smiles and tears of joy.
