Rocky Kanaka, the host of the YouTube show Save Our Shelter, is passionate about dog rescue. He presently has two rescue dogs: Flip, a Boxer, and Zoey, a smaller dog. He’s even currently caring for a blind foster pet.

He always wants the best for pets in need, so he knew he couldn’t give up when he learned Flip had cancer. Many veterinarians predicted the young pup wouldn’t survive, but he’s beating all odds now. As a result, Kanaka thought that his heroic pooch deserved a special treat.
A breeder dropped Flip off at the shelter because no one wanted to buy him. He was ill, but there was no way of knowing what was wrong with him at the time. Despite his condition, Kanaka fell in love with the small dog and chose to adopt him.

When he took Flip home, the dog behaved unexpectedly. He seemed frail, and he appeared to be having trouble breathing. Kanaka concocted several scenarios to explain what was wrong with the puppy, but the situation was far worse than he had anticipated. Flip was diagnosed with cancer not long after.
Flip had to have surgery to have the tumor removed. It wasn’t easy, but Kanaka kept trying to aid his lovely puppy in every way he could. Flip’s path to recovery was difficult, but he eventually made it and defeated cancer! He’s such a happy, healthy puppy now. It’s all because his father was adamant about not giving up on him.

When a person survives cancer, they are usually rewarded with a party, and dogs should be no different. Kanaka pondered for a long time what he might do to help Flip. Then he remembered one of Flip’s favorite things: tennis balls! So he devised a scheme to surprise Flip with 100 colossal tennis balls.
Because the tennis balls were so large, they had to be blown up when they arrived. They began to work with the support of his pregnant wife. Kanaka made sure Flip didn’t peek since he sensed something was wrong. He didn’t want to ruin the surprise.

Kanaka used a little tennis ball to entice Flip outside when he went to get him. Flip believed he was simply going outside to play fetch, but things quickly improved. Kanaka removed the sheet from the big tennis balls, and Flip was stunned. He jumped into the pile and started playing right away.
Flip ended up popping a couple of tennis balls in the process, but he was having the time of his life. Even their blind foster dog, Kobe, got in on the action. The tennis balls, on the other hand, were a no-no for Zoey. She casually rushed away with one tiny ball from the yard.
This celebration was the ideal way to commemorate Flip’s successful recovery. Remarkably, he’s still alive today with a loving family. Flip, I congratulate you! You are deserving of all the tennis balls the planet has to offer.
