It’s always fascinating to see two creatures who are so significantly different become buddies. Interspecies relationships are fascinating to see and demonstrate that we can all get along despite our differences.
This adorable owl who is pals with a German Shepherd exemplifies the point. As you’ll see in this touching video, the owl trusts the dog with its life.

The cute little owl is taken swimming by the German shepherd! The small owl stands on her pink life jacket as he travels on the back of his canine companion. The owl is completely vulnerable to the dog in the water, but he trusts her to keep him safe.
Like a German Shepherd, the dog swims with the owl on her back, taking her responsibility as a faithful guardian seriously. She paddles through the water with caution, clearly knowing that she has a feathered passenger.

The two appear to be having a great time swimming, and the scenario is not only gorgeous but also quite calm. The environment is stunning, and it’s the ideal spot for a swim with friends. There’s even another canine companion joining them.
Although owls are not water birds, they can swim if necessary, so there is no need to be concerned if the owl falls off the dog’s back. However, even though the owl can tread water, she is unable to climb from the water and would have difficulty reaching land, proving her confidence in her canine companion.

According to ornithologist Matthew Zwiernik of Michigan State University’s Audubon Society: “While owls can swim, they rarely do it of their own will… Owls can’t fly until they reach land, and their enormous talons can’t get them through the water rapidly.”
Despite not being of the same species, it’s clear that this feathered and fuzzy bond is built on trust. Despite their great differences, it’s simply incredible to witness how special their friendship is.
